How It All Started

Roughly six months ago we decided that we would like to go travelling for a longer time rather then short holiday trips. And since we will be going for a longer time, we should go somewhere far to. But where to? South America seemed a good choice, as it is generally quite expensive to get to from Europe, especially from the Czech Republic. Also we really liked our trip to Ecuador last year. Eventually we bought tickets to Chile for November and the plan was born – go South of South America to Patagonia and to the very edge of frozen Antarctica and then back north. We’ll sort out the details later :).

For half a year we were doing our final trips around the UK and were gradually arranging the necessary things to move to the Czech – notices at work, bank accounts, taxes, council tax, health insurance, relocation itself and many, many farewell parties 🙂 … it was a bit hectic, but everything went down smoothly. One bag sent with a friend (plane),  my bicycle and another bag with another friend (bus), two backpacks, two big suitcases and five boxes (all together some 270 kilograms) flew with us on the plane and arrived safely in Prague. Then there was another week of welcome back/farewell parties and  on 16th November we boarded a plane to Rome followed by another 15-hour flight from Rome to Santiago de Chile.
